So far 2016 has had it's fair share of 'pinch-me' experiences but none caught me by surprise more than having two amazing volunteers from Australia and Montreal arrive in New Orleans to help me pitch Digital Rangers to over 7000 Angel and Equity investors at the USA's largest Start-Up conference Collision 2016!
After months of greatly appreciated mentorship and pitch preparation by the Sharks at BSchool and 333Group we had a team and were ready to take our place at Collision.
Lia Arcioni and Neil Monument generously gave their time to help pull together our stand, and talk to potential investors, digital technology advisors and mentors about our product Digital Rangers. They absolutely rocked it and I'm happy to say they are part of the Indigital Team on-going together with our P3D and GIS mapping expert M'Lis Flynn. A big shout out goes to their families for holding the fort while we pitched our butts off at the event!
It was an incredible experience being the only Indigenous company to be hosted at Collision and it certainly gave our company an insight in to our position in the global digital marketplace. While pitching was great, the best investment was in the time we spent networking with other start-ups, mentors and investors.
We are happy to report that we have picked up 2 new exciting projects in the USA, met 2 potential investors who are working with us to increase Digital Rangers downloads, contracted 1 company and have met 2 fabulous Silicone Valley mentors who have so far given us some great advice for navigating the global digital marketplace.
All in all I can completely recommend Indigenous companies putting themselves out in the global marketplace. We have so much to offer outside our own Country, where in some ways I think we can find greater value in what we do.
