Speaking with the International Telecommunications Union at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, New York.

Mikaela Jade, CEO

Last month I had the privilege of attending both the Tribal Link Project Access team as a mentor, and the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues as a delegate. After 4 years of work we were able to secure our 3 sentences in the Economic and Social Council Report, urging Member States to invest in Indigenous digital literacy! I'll write more on this soon, however in the meantime we've received the recording of our ITU Panel discussion at the United Nations Development Program Headquarters in New York.

I had the privilege of being on a discussion panel with Ursula Wynhoven (ITU), Amy Rosen (US Country Managing Director and General Counsel at Telstra), and Professor Ian Anderson (Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet).

Here's what we all had to say on the topic, which was "ICTs as a tool for the empowerment of indigenous communities".

Looking back, I'm so sad that I'm stuffing my face with food at the start of the video, however working at the UNPFII is very intense and you have to eat when you have the opportunity! Apologies in advance!
